Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Peakmark is an app for collecting your hiking records, photos, and memories. This policy describes how the current V1 app handles data.
Data you save in the app
Mountain records you create may include a mountain name, date, elevation, region, notes, selected coordinates, photos, and generated stickers. These records and app settings are stored on your device by default. The name and profile photo you enter also stay on your device. Peakmark does not create an account for you.
Photos, camera, and location
The app accesses images you choose only when you select a photo or use the camera. Photo thumbnails, compression, and subject cutout are processed on your device. The app keeps copies of photos and stickers used in your records in its own storage. It does not delete the originals from your photo library. The app may read a selected photo's capture date or location. You can confirm or change a record's location, and you can create a record without location data.
The map displays mountain coordinates you have recorded or selected and uses Apple Maps to load map content. The app does not request permission to access your current location or record live GPS routes. Apple's service and privacy terms apply when Apple Maps processes connection and map data.
Optional iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off by default. If you choose to enable it in app settings, your mountain records, notes, copies of selected photos and stickers, and any coordinates and photo metadata in the records are synced through Apple CloudKit to your Apple Account's private iCloud database for use on devices signed in to the same account. This is not a Peakmark account or server. The developer cannot freely browse the contents of your private database through the developer portal. iCloud availability and storage depend on Apple's services and your account status.
Turning off iCloud sync stops future syncing but does not automatically remove data already stored in iCloud. When you delete a record in the app, it is removed from the normal view, and the app schedules cleanup of the photo copies it stores. To prevent the record from reappearing during sync across devices, deletion markers and associated record content may remain in local and private iCloud records. The app currently has no “delete all iCloud data” button. If you need help managing data in iCloud, contact us using the support details below. Deleting the app does not delete data already synced to iCloud.
In-app purchases
Lifetime Unlock is handled by Apple StoreKit. The app asks Apple for the product price and verified purchase entitlement, and it offers Restore Purchase. Apple processes payment information. Peakmark does not operate its own payment server or receive your credit card information.
Ads, analytics, and data sharing
The current version has no third-party advertising service, third-party product behavior analytics service, or cross-app tracking SDK. We do not sell your personal data or provide mountain records, notes, or photos to advertisers. Apple's App Store, StoreKit, CloudKit, and Maps services may still process data and diagnostics needed to provide their services under their own rules.
Retention, deletion, and sharing
You can view, edit, and delete records in the app. Deleting a record does not delete the original image from your photo library. The retention of local data and optional iCloud copies is described above. If you choose to use the system share feature, the content you share is handled by the app or recipient you select.
Policy updates
If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy and its update date, and update the App Store privacy information when needed. This policy describes only the current version's features.
